CHANGES

Dr. R. John Leigh, Professor of Neurology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and University Hospitals of Cleveland, has been appointed the Dorothy R. Blair–Robert B. Daroff, MD, Professor of Neurology. Dr. Leigh is the first recipient of the Professorship, established by Dorothy R. Blair in honor of Dr. Daroff. The award of this Professorship to him was particularly fitting because his research in the visual system parallels the work of Dr. Daroff.

Dr. Leigh’s research involves the CNS and control of eye movements and offers insight into a broad range of nervous system disorders. In formulating mathematical models about aspects of eye movement control, he has elucidated the mechanisms responsible for disorders associated with neurologic diseases such as MS, PD, stroke, coma, and several genetic disorders. His work has identified several effective therapies for abnormal eye movements that cause oscillopsia and has been supported by the NIH, the Veterans Administration, and NASA.

Dr. Leigh has served on Study Sections for NIH and on the Editorial Boards of leading medical journals, including Neurology.
